Special Memories Box

Something simple to make, yet something so very special to recieve. A special memories box can be made from an old shoe box, decorated in wrapping paper. The idea is to fill the box with special memories.

How about the ticket stubs of the first movie you went to see as a couple? A copy of the menu from the first restaurant you took her to? Old photos from memorable trips and special days out you shared. Train tickets from that time you went away for a weekend, or even a brochure from a museum that you visited together.

Items like these will bring those special memories back to life, and ensure your loved one things of the great times you have as a couple, whenever they open the box. You’d be surprised how such a simple Valentine’s Day gift can mean so much to the person you love.

The Surprise Picnic

Sometimes, when Valentine’s Day falls in the middle of the week, you have the best chance of coming up with great gift ideas. Grab a picnic basket, get some of her favourite snack foods, a bottle of wine, and some tasty desert, and then head on over to her office. Having your partner show up and whisk you off for a picnic at a park or by a river is a lovely surprise in the middle of a stressful work day.

A quiet surprise picnic during the day is a wonderful Valentine’s Day gift, and it also gives you a chance to spend some time alone together. If you don’t want to go for the full picnic, why not drop off some treats for her to share with her friends at work, with a promise of a special surprise that evening?

If the lady in your life takes her own lunch in to work, why not try and sneak a surprise - like a special note or small gift - into her lunch box? Small thoughts like this will brighten up her day and remind her of you. With a bit of creativity you can ensure that it’s not just the evening that’s special for her.

Cooking A Nice Meal

Going out for dinner is all very well, and lots of fun, but few things show you care as much as cooking an intimate candle lit dinner for the one you love. Before the men start complaining that they can’t cook - stop! The point here is not what you make for dinner, but showing that you care enough to make the effort.

Even if you can’t cook her favourite meal of seared scallops on a bed of crushed borlotti beans and pancetta, don’t despair. Meals like roast chicken or steak and mashed potatos are simple and easy to prepare, and they taste delicious as well. More and more recipe books, as well as online recipes, are aimed at the culinary novice. If you’ve never cooked before, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find out how easy it can be to quickly make a sumptuous meal.

Even if things don’t go well in the kitchen, with a nice bottle of wine and some candles, you’ll have shown that you care enough to make the effort - and that’s all anybody can really ask for a thoughtful and special Valentine’s Day gift.

Pamper Days

Personal pamper days are becoming more and more popular with women. Spas often run special deals, especially just after a major holiday, so with a bit of forward planning you can buy some vouchers well in advance, and be prepared for that special occasion.

Alternatively, you don’t need to spend a day in an expensive spa to feel pampered. Why not give the lady in your life a Valentine’s Day gift of a pamper day - at home? A romantic candle lit bath, with special smelling salts and aromatherapy candles. Invest in some hot oil or aromatherapy oil and give her a slow, relaxing massage. Put on some of her favourite relaxing music as well, and treat her to a mellow chill out evening, allowing her a chance to de-stress and relax.

Arranging a pamper day at home is a great way to show you care, by investing time and effort to make her feel valued and loved. It won’t take much to arrange a special pamper day that she will never forget.

Spend Some Time Together

This is the number one way to show the lady in your life that you really care. Spending some time together might not seem like a proper Valentine’s Day gift, but trust me on this. With our busy, hectic lifestyles, it’s all too easy to not see our partners during the week, and to start to feel isolated or not appreciated.

One of the most common requests that women bring up is that their partner doesn’t spend enough time with them. So chat to your partner, get an idea of what she likes to do, and then put aside a day or weekend to spend on her. Taking the time to enjoy her favourite activities - even if they’re not yours! - shows consideration and support for the things your partner enjoys and the ideas that they value. Even if it’s not something you would normally do, you’d be surprised how enjoyable a time you can have when you’re spending it in the company of the one you love.

The pair of you can enjoy doing the things that she loves, and you’ll find the effect of this Valentine’s Day gift matches that of any jewellry or chocolate.
